Gary is a strategic advisor with nearly four decades of experience guiding global organizations through transformation, growth and complex operational challenges. He is currently Senior Partner Emeritus and formerly served as Chairman, North America of McKinsey & Company. He was previously the managing partner for the firm in North America, and before that led McKinsey’s office for the Western United States. Gary was also a co-founder of McKinsey’s Private Equity & Principal Investors Practice. His earlier leadership roles included service on the firm’s global governance bodies, including McKinsey’s Shareholders Council (the firm’s global governance body), and leadership of finance, strategy, risk and infrastructure committees. His broad cross-industry advisory experience from McKinsey & Company offers perspective on global markets, operational capabilities and strategic innovation as Bloom expands its clean energy solutions.
Gary also currently serves as a director of TPG Private Equity Opportunities, L.P, Walker & Dunlop, Inc., and Sackville Capital. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest University and US Ski and Snowboard Foundation.
Gary earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and quantitative economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, both with distinction.
