Bloom Energy in Delaware: Manufacturing Employees Tell Their Stories

Over the past couple of months, we have been honored to share the stories of Bloom Energy employees who work at our Delaware Manufacturing Center. To understand how Bloom coming to Delaware has created opportunities for those employees, we asked them a simple question: “What does working at Bloom Energy mean to you?”

For some, it means delivering a healthier environment and cleaner air for generations to come. For others, it means a manufacturing job that provides for their families like auto industry jobs once did. For all, it means continuing to build on the strong tradition of manufacturing and work ethic in Delaware through clean energy innovation.

You can watch each of our employee’s unique and powerful stories below – we hope you find them as moving as we did.

Britini: “As a mother, it’s really important for me to live in an environment with clean air. Knowing that he [Britini’s son] can grow up looking at Mom and saying, ‘Hey, she made a difference,’ and that Bloom is trying to impact the future not just for ourselves, but for our kids, that’s important to me.”

Markell: “I found out about Bloom during high school. I was chosen to participate in a manufacturing program. I was able to buy my mother a home, to buy my own car. It changed my life.”

Carol: “When Chrysler shut down, it was a big impact on me and my husband. That’s all I really knew was manufacturing. We almost lost everything we owned. Bloom had an opportunity to come here and to bring the manufacturing jobs. We’re trying to build Delaware back up. It’s good for our future, for our children, our family. That means a lot to me.”

Mike: “I’m currently serving in the Delaware Air National Guard. I’m proud to serve my country, serve the State of Delaware through the military. Proud to work here at Bloom as well, producing clean electricity for our families and our friends.”

Frank: “Bloom has afforded me the opportunity to make a living and support my family. As I’m thinking about my kids and their children, we want to make sure we leave the environment in a much, much better shape than we found it, and I think Bloom provides that.”

Karolis: “A strong part of Bloom’s culture is developing its people. I started with Bloom as an assembly line technician holding an hourly position and I was able to grow, develop, train, and I’m currently an assembly manufacturing manager.”
